About Week 15 - 18
Has your baby found his/her thumb? At this stage it isn’t dangerous as they won’t have permanent teeth yet. Sucking comforts a baby, so there is nothing wrong if your baby uses your breast as a dummy.
New breastfeeding patternsYour baby might be feeding less often. On average babies will breastfeed eight to 12 times in 24 hours, from the early days until they are three to six months old, so by now you might notice a decrease in feeds. This change could involve between six to eight breastfeeds a day (four or five bottles for bottlefed babies).
Your baby is becoming more curious about anything you do and might start observing you when you eat. This doesn’t mean they are ready for solids yet. However this is a good time to consider how you want to wean your baby and find out more about how to introduce solids in his/her diet.
